Tsoksang
Tsoksang is lucky to be studying at the Triten Norbutse Monastery.  His father is a day labourer and his mother works as a stone crusher.  Not only is their work sporadic and dangerous, it barely pays enough to survive.  Tsoksang’s brothers work as hired drivers to help make ends meet.  Knowing it would be best for Tsoksang, his parents let him study at the monastery.
Since starting a year ago, Tsokasang is now a novice monk with a bright future ahead of him.
Rabgyal
Rabgyal’s life has been plagued with hardship.  His father died when he was only a baby.  Since then, his mother has been working as a nursery garden labourer.  His brother and sister only go to school with the help of relatives.  Rabgyal himself has only attended kindergarten and is now 12 years old.
But since February 2012, he has been studying at the Triten Norbutse Monastery.  Now, he is in a safe, stable environment and learning how to read and write.
Sonam
Before coming to Triten Norbutse Monastery, Sonam faced a life of grueling work as a subsistence farmer like his parents.  Unfortunately, they could not afford to send him to school on a regular basis.  One day a monk from Triten came Dolpo, India (Sonam’s village) and his parents asked him to take their son so that he could have a better life.
Sonam is now studying at the Triten Norbutse Monastery and is on his way to becoming a monk.
